Re: gentle pitch>>> Intergallactic Flatlanders Laser Championships

Hi Fred, you've been so quiet for so long I thought you'd died on your Laser and gone to heaven. Glad to find I was wrong. Your posting prompts two comments;

- there was a tall building in Oklahoma City before some home bred terrorist tried to blend it in with the landsape. Maybe this was a sign of things to come before your ex-Governor stirred up a hornets nest in Iraq, and

- please don't knock sailors who race 4.7 and radial rigs, and I know you don't mean it. The USODA Spring '05 issue has a Vanguard advert with the words "what the future looks like to an Opti sailor" showing a bunch of young sailors on 4.7 rigs. And you will remember the last time we met at Wrightsville Beach in '89 or whenever after you helped put that great site on the map as an overlooked site for major Laser regattas. While I was stumbling around in my full rig a bunch of youngsters were racing in clunkers with radial rigs. I asked one of them who came in early how much he weighed as in "are you 100 lbs yet?". His answer "Sir, I just made 101". QED, not all Laser sailors in 4.7's and radials are wimps. And if you make 65 and sail in a Masters Worlds you'll have to sail a radial in deference to your advanced age.

Have a great day Fred and may you always get your readers attention.

Best wishes, David
