gentle pitch>>> Intergallactic Flatlanders Laser Championships
Got your attention huh??
This event will be held at the site where Last year's O'days were raced and
the J-22 North Americans were just completed. These guys are great hosts.
During the J-22 event, they even had a huge impromptu bonfire

Wind? Look at a map. Everybody in Oklahoma knows that Texas blows and
Kansas sucks. Oklahoma is a wasteland with nothing, not even a tall building, in
the way so the wind just blasts across the state.
The place has daily tests of the tornado sirens. The local Laser fleet uses
those horns as warning signals. They say the best way to find your boat after
a tornado is to ride it through the funnel. I know most of you live where
the wind never considers blowing hard and you are too chicken to even try
some real central states flatland sailing. You can probably fake it. Bring
your boat and rig up. Sometimes even Oklahoma has light wind. It is a
September event. If there is ever a time when the wind might moderate, it is
September. You can act like you had the nerve to sail in real sailor's wind and even
sail if some of that light air happens. They also allow Radials and 4.7 rigs
for wimps who can't handle real sails.
Or you could simply stay home and make up a story about having other
commitments or not enough time or money. Yeah right. Nobody will believe that
crap. Everybody knows sailors are all rich trust fund babies.
So, are you a real Laser sailor or do you wear hiking pants to get better
tan lines? All the real sailors will be out on Lake Hefner in a few weeks. The
water will still be warm enough for t shirt sailing and after sailing all
day in Oklahoma winds Katie Towles throws a great party for anybody who is able
to stay awake.
