Cracked bell aniversary?

The document was written a few days before the fourth. There were no  fax 
machines to send a copy right away to King George III. It took a while for  him 
to respond an therefore the fighting didn't start for a while after  that.  
But...
Some folks did get together for a public reading of their plan to separate  
from the King's control and one excited fellow rang the hell out of a bell  
until he cracked the thing.
 
It is still on display in Philadelphia...home of that Laser fleet Shevy was  
so proud of....but I digress...
 
Anyway...
It was not all that long ago. 
All the great grand masers have been around for over 1/4 of the elapsed  time 
since it happened.
Some of the guys (Sam Small for example) have been around for 1/3 of the  
total time.
 
And of course, the Easter Laser Regatta has been sailed in one of every ten  
years since the Declaration of Independance was read.,...and that comparative  
number will grow smaller
