The quick way to weight gain? Beer. Lots of it. Followed by a healthy British diet of boiled meat and potatoes, smothered in gravy, with a bit of Welsh rarebit as a starter.
Another option would be a weight lifting/strength program along the lines in Michael Blackburn's book, with a diet that insures that you are eating enough calories to build muscle.

I would like to try to put on a 'stone' (that's
British for 14 pounds) or so for next season as well as raise my overall
fitness in an attempt to do better in some of the local open meets. I'm 5'
10" so can definately gain that weight without becoming a total lardarse.
Any suggestions for fairly quick weight gain?
