When I go to a regatta the decision whether to use the radial rig is
based on two criteria. If there are only a few radials likely to
register, I will go with the full rig and take what comes. If there are
a lot of radial rigs and the weather is forecast to be windy, then I
will likely go with the radial.
I enjoy a big wind too, but realistically I am not competitive in the
full rig when it is much above 15 knots.
