. I have some time to build again and the project of the day is a wooden boom with arecesed sheet . I was considering slotting the bottom of the boom and inserting thin walled alu. c-channel (made from 1"x3/4"x1/16"tubing )where the blocks hang. There would be a short peice in the front and a 18" in the back .I was hoping to drill a series of holes right through the boom to accomadate 1/4"dia. pins for attaching the blocks . What I am trying to achieve is in getting the blocks up so that sheet will pass through the recess as easily as possible. the alu.will keep the pins from pulling through the wood .would this be in conflict with the class rules ie.(booms shall be constructed of alu. or wood)?I am aware of the fact that the sheave and sheet must hang outside the boom body. Any opinions would be appreciated .Maybe someone has used a different approach.
