We have similar conditions some times from corn processing plants that spew out a grity material along with several co gen plants...newer Sarns runners are 1090 steel which is harder, I have best luck with 440c stainless which is hardened, the hardest is stelite but dificult to work with...my guess is that you have very hard ice and lots of wind....if that is the case then I would flatten the crown ( contact surface with ice) to min. of 18" @ .008..putting more pressure on front runner by rig adjustment..move forward loosen rig a little...The std sarns runner has about 6" crown. I have made about 3 trips to Ak in the summer maybe I need an excuse to go in the winter...where is this ice sailing mecca? Pete US2360
