Be careful heating the runner steel with a hair dryer (or
worse - a heat gun). You are likely to heat the steel up to
the point where you compromise the epoxy bond (assuming there
is any remaining bonded area).
A better idea would be to heat the whole runner up to some
reasonable temperature (I would keep it below 120 degF) in a
warm oven. Let it sit in the warm invironment for a while so
the whole runner (right into the middle) has warmed up. Then
try to get the heated resin down into body along the steel.
