Plank attachment: two studs, or one?

Just last night someone was working on a DN where the plank is attached via a single bolt in the middle of the cockpit and kept in position by a pair of cleats running across the bottom of the boat. I'm getting close to installing the floor (and plank attachment blocking/hardware) to my new boat. I'd been planning to use the standard Sarns-style stud plates on the plank, and "internal" mounting plates on the hull. Now I'm wondering about the "single bolt" method.

Can someone explain the benefits/drawbacks to the various ways of attaching the plank to the hull?

Cheers,
