Questino 1: I've heard good reasons for using both 3mm baltic-birch and Okume plywood for the skins and cockpit floor on a DN. Nothing definitive, though. Both are easily availabel at resonable cost, so that's not an issue. Okume is lighter, but might absorb more epoxy (?)...

Question 2: I'm thinking of using using "Verticell" (resin-coated paper) for the core between the bottom skin and the cockpit floor. The choices I have are 1/2" and 3/4" (no 5/8!):

I'm hesitant to make the cockpit shallower than necessary, so I'm thinking about using the 1/2" material. Will this cause problems (strength or stiffness?). The best alternative seems to be the "to plans" 5/8 x1/4 inch listings.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

Cheers,
