I had a runner in a crack, deplanking,split the side boards incident earlier this year. I did a temporary open up the crack and fill it with lots of epoxy fix. I really like your aluminum nail method and intend to use it or aluminum rod if can't get nails to permanently fix the hull. I'd like your opinion, however, about using 5/16 hardwood dowels instead.
